red plastic buddha's song for mara

It's good to see more of the new psyche bands becoming experimental with ideas. The songs on the latest release by Red Plastic Buddha 'Songs for Mara' have really enlarged from the lighter Syd Barret style of the first album with the vocals now sitting into big layers of guitars and keyboards. They've got a good pool of musicians working on the tracks alongside the heart of the group on this psychedelic collage. Great production too.
And if you're a psychedelic band playing in Chicago, the home of blues, what better thing to do than a version of the LA psyche classic "A House Is Not A Motel" by Love. Arthur Lee would have loved to know his music's still alive and in very good hands.
Have a listen to the whole album and stick some dollars there way for the downloads at their BandCamp page. The album's coming out on CD and vinyl shortly.
By the way.. the Chicago band guide declares "There are thousands of great local bands playing every week".. Ouch..now that's alarming! How's a guy meant to get a gig with that lot?
